Kone out of Ivory Coast World Cup qualifier

The striker Bakary Kone has withdrawn from the Ivory Coast team for World Cup qualifier against Burkina Faso on Saturday after picking up a knee in the action of France Ligue 1, the Football Federation of Côte d'Ivoire said.


The striker joined Marseille as part of midfielder Christian Koffi Ndri, better known as Romaric, who plays for Seville in Spain. Kone was injured against champions Girondins de Bordeaux on Sunday, while Romaric has lost with an ankle problem.

A home win in qualifying from Group E in Abidjan, along with the failure of Guinea to beat Malawi in Blantyre, the same day would allow the Ivory Coast qualify for the end of next year in South Africa...[source]
