Brazil knock Spain off top spot



Victory on all fronts to Brazil, after winning the FIFA Confederations Cup in South Africa, the selection had recovered ground in the top of the FIFA / Coca-Cola World Ranking, relegating European champions Spain (2nd, 1) to background. The last American to lead the ranking in August 2007, a position that has been raised six times in the history of classification.

The Netherlands (3rd, 1), Italy (4th, no change) and Germany (5th, 2) took the next three places, but some distance behind the leading duo. Russia (6th, 3) have overtaken England (7th, 1) and Argentina (8, 1 down), reaching its best position since August 1997 in the process...[source]
